I had a blast at the fair. The steak-tips food vendor (I am sorry I don't recall the name) was beyond expectations. The young men working there were fun and man, can they cook the most tender, flavorful steak tips and mushrooms and potatoes. I also got a re-usable aluminum mug from a soda vendor. It's super cute so I'm storing change in it until next year. I can bring it back and get $1 refills. I struck up conversation with many of the locals that were manning exhibits at the church, the doctor's office and the farm implements. Everyone was charming and informative. I had just moved here and I felt very welcomed at the county fair.
Love the Antique Market there once a month in the summer months. Very organized & have great venders. Have went there for years & have found some great treasures.
Good place to take the whole family and friends. Rides for all ages and many games, animals, farm, craft and historic exhibits to see for those who prefer something more down to earth. Plenty to see, eat and drink and different grandstand shows each day of the fair. Cost may be the one issue to consider if you have a large group or family. There's a fee to park, a fee for each member entering the fair, tickets for rides or for $25.00 per person an unlimited ride wrist band may be purchased. Each ride costs a different amount of tickets and grandstand shows cost extra as well. Food and drink and any novelty items are also separate. Depending on the day there is free entry for women, veterans, senior citizens and a one price per carload which defrays a bit of the cost. All in all a fun way to spend a day.
Part fairgrounds, part outdoor antique village museum, this massive property on the Kalamazoo Riverfront, is the long time home to the oldest and perhaps best known fair in Michigan. Held each year the week after Labor Day, enabling the event to be a true harvest celebration. Prize livestock judging and auctions, best pies, breads jams, pickles judged as well. Largest midway with rides and games in the state. Recently remade grandstand hosts tractor pulls, harness racing, and top names in entertainment. Village museum contains reconstructions of the counties oldest buildings. Pioneer cabin, blacksmith's shop, old gas station, 1 room schoolhouse, and a general store, all come back to life during Fair time with authentic re-inactors.
I like coming to this fair. Antiques and future projects start here. It is a very big area to cover in a day so start early and plan for the whole day. They have set areas with different foods and drinks at reasonable prices. I believe you can find anything to your liking here.
